General
arrangement |
The
lists of books are arranged according to two factors: |
1 |
Areas
of Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, etc.) These are described in the
Help page called areas
of Scotland. |
2 |
Subjects
(history, geography, transport, etc.). The are described in the Help
page called subjects. |
|
The
subjects are subdivided into topics and more information about
these is given in the Help page called subjects
and topics. |

Advanced
Search over different areas
Many books cover more than one area. Consquently,
some books are included in more than one areas` booklist.
An
example: If you are looking for a book on the Scottish shipbuilding industry
then the relevant books should be in the "Scotland" area under
the subject heading "Industry". However, if you are looking
for shipbuilding on the River Clyde then most books will probably be in
the "Glasgow" area. Other books could be in the West Dumbartonshire
area (for Clydebank) or in the Inverclyde section (for Greenock). A general
survey of Clydeside shipbuilding would be found in the Central and South
Scotland region.
